Our Ten-Year Journey to Vitality

Ten years ago, we were not looking for a health philosophy. We simply knew that we did not feel as well as we wanted to. Years of busy living, eating without thinking deeply about what was in our food, inconsistent movement and the usual stresses of everyday life had gradually taken their toll. Nothing changed overnight. In the same way, getting healthier did not happen overnight either. We began with simple changes. We cooked more of our own meals and returned to real, recognisable food. We became more conscious of ultra-processed foods, refined carbohydrates and industrial seed oils. We prioritised good protein, natural fats and whole foods instead of counting calories. But food turned out to be only one part of the story. We walked. We spent more time outdoors. Morning sunlight became part of our rhythm. We paid greater attention to sleep, stress, our environment and how we actually felt each day. We learned that consistency mattered far more than chasing perfection. Most importantly, we did it together. Over ten years, these small choices accumulated. We became more energetic, more resilient and more engaged with life. Health stopped meaning simply avoiding illness. It became something we could feel: the energy to walk somewhere new, cook together, travel, laugh, explore and wake up looking forward to the day. Looking back at ourselves ten years apart, the biggest change isn’t simply how we look. It is how alive we feel. That journey eventually became the foundation for Metabo: not a diet or a quick fix, but a way of thinking about health built around the everyday habits that helped us rediscover our vitality.

Gentle Farms: A Different Kind of Courage

We visited Gentle Farms in Johor expecting to discover a farm. What we found was something much more meaningful. Behind Gentle Farms are two young Singaporeans who stepped away from comfortable careers and chose to build something with their own hands. Their days revolve around grass-fed goats, naturally produced fresh milk, kampung chickens, duck eggs and the rhythms of the land. What struck us was not simply the quality of the food, but the intention behind it. There is a quiet sincerity here. Food is treated not as an industrial product to be made faster or cheaper, but as something that begins with how animals are raised, how the land is respected and how much care goes into the process. For Pauline and me, it was a reminder that the Metabo idea of vitality does not begin on a nutrition label. It begins much earlier, with the choices behind our food and the environment from which it comes. Gentle Farms showed us that sometimes progress does not mean adding more technology, processing or convenience. Sometimes it means returning to something simpler: real food, thoughtful farming and people who genuinely care about what they produce.
